Early Air Quality Data Collected by Ohio EPA Near Gas Drilling Site Shows Clear Air
11/02/2012 - The first four months of air quality data collected near a shale gas drilling well shows the air remains clean. Ohio EPA started collecting data at a gas drilling site located near The Wilds in Muskingum County in April 2012.

EPA Completes Drinking Water Sampling in Dimock, Pa.
On July 25, 2012 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that it has completed its sampling of private drinking water wells in Dimock, Pa, and based on the outcome of that sampling, EPA has determined that there are not levels of contaminants present that would require additional action by the Agency. Executive Order Signed by Governor Kasich
On July 10, 2012 Governor Kasich signed Executive Order 2012-09K which authorizes the Chief of the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management within the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to require additional testing and safeguards as part of the permitting process for an injection well. Ohio Department of Public Safety Announces formation of Oil and Gas Development Public Safety Committee
ODPS will lead the Oil and Gas Development Public Safety Committee, including representatives from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Homeland Security, Ohio Emergency Medical Services, Ohio State Fire Marshal, Ohio Emergency Management Agency, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. The committee's purpose is to deal with topics related to first responders, safety, and security issues related to oil and gas development. The committee will also interact with the various communities involved, sharing information and responding to their concerns.

Developed with input from county and township officials, railroads, the oil and gas industry, ODOT, ODNR, the Ohio Emergency Management Agency, and other stakeholders, the RUMA is now available for local governments pursuing agreements with companies involved in oil and gas drilling for maintenance of local roads concerns.
